Day 1

We depart today for a week of Old-World Dutch Heritage, ready to view acres and acres of gorgeous flowers that will magnify your senses. We spend our first night relaxing in Joilet, IL.

Day 2

We continue northeast through Illinois and Indiana into beautiful springtime in Michigan. We will first visit Saugatuck for an exhilarating Dune Buggy ride! If you’ve never ridden on one, do not miss this thrilling experience! Enjoy lunch on your own in the Dutch Marketplaats and then enjoy a quilt show. After all the excitement, you will have free time to explore Downtown Holland, MI. This evening, enjoy a local buffet dinner before settling into the Hampton Inn Grand Rapids, where we will stay the next 3 nights. (B, D)

Day 3

We start the day with a local Step on Guide who will bring to life the magnificent town of Holland, MI. Today, we will enjoy another local buffet, but this time, for lunch. Afterwards, it’s time for the “Volksparade!” Even the Governor makes a special appearance, leading an array of colorfully clad locals and bands parading in the traditional Dutch costumes of yesterday. And yes, they will be marching in the surprisingly comfortable wooden shoes, a Dutch heritage like no other! This evening we will wrap up the day with a splendid dinner and entertainment. (B, L, D)

Day 4

After breakfast today, we head to the famous Veldheer Tulip Gardens, where you will enjoy some of the most beautiful gardens of flowers one could see anywhere. After touring the lovely farm, we will enjoy a musical lunch show and then depart for Windmill Island. Here, explore the 200-year-old Dutch windmill, “DeZwaan,” in its beautiful setting surrounded by… you guessed it, stunning tulips. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent at the De Klomp Wooden Shoe Factory at Nelis Dutch Village. Pick up a pair of wooden shoes and wear them the rest of the day, if you dare. Or at least enjoy shopping for traditional gifts and treats. This evening, enjoy your New Odyssey dinner and show, a limited event during the Holland Tulip Festival! (B, L, D)

Day 5

We depart Michigan today and begin our journey home. Enjoy dinner at Favazza’s Italian restaurant on the hill in St. Louis, where we will stay for the night. (B)

Day 6

This morning, we will wrap up our tour by visiting the World’s Chess Museum and Hall of Fame. We will then make the rest of the journey home, with a stop for a nice, leisure lunch, and reminisce on the colorful flowers, spectacular parades, and rich Dutch culture we have experienced! (B, L)
