Strawbery Banke is a 10-acre living history museum that has preserved the lifestyles and traditions of four centuries of New Englanders. Here you can see 40 buildings – most on their original sites – spanning from the late 1600s to the mid-1950s. From the spare storefronts of colonial merchants to the elegant Georgian-style mansion of Governor Goodwin, from the humble dwellings of early Jewish immigrants to the penny candy counter of the WWII-era Abbott Store, Strawbery Banke tells the stories of a neighborhood over time.  Have lunch on own in Portsmouth. Arrive in Kennebunk, Maine for a two-night stay at the Hampton Inn. (B, D)

This one-hour, narrated cruise combines the scenic beauty of Ogunquit’s shoreline with a first-hand lobstering viewing. Depart Ogunquit and travel to Kennebunkport. Enjoy some free time for shopping and lunch on own in Dock Square.  There are many quaint boutiques and casual restaurants along the waterfront. Meet your local guide at the Franciscan Monastery for a narrated tour of Kennebunkport and Kennebunk.  Drive past the sandy beaches and rocky coastline, past the George & Barbara Bush estate at Walker’s Point, hear the history of these shipbuilding towns and the legend of the Wedding Cake House.  You will also visit the Franciscan Monastery with its beautiful landscaping, outdoor shrines and chapel. Return to the hotel. Put on your souvenir lobster hat and travel to a local restaurant for a traditional Lobster Bake Dinner. (B, D)
