Take a trip to the past in the historically rich town of Amana, Iowa. We will begin our tour by visiting the birthplace of one of America’s favorite cowboys, John Wayne! Day 1
We depart Springfield and make our way to Winterset, Iowa! Upon arrival we will enjoy a tour of one of our favorite famous cowboy’s birthplace — John Wayne! Later this afternoon we will drive by a couple of gorgeous, covered bridges and make our way to the hotel in Des Moines, where we will settle in for the night. The evening is yours to get dinner and rest up for the days ahead! (L)
Day 2
This morning, eat a big breakfast because we will spend the rest of the morning on a long, leisure tour of Amana! After the tour, we will eat lunch and enjoy some free time to explore the town and get a better look at some of the things you may have seen on the tour. We will depart Amana for our hotel and spend the evening back in Des Moines. (B, L)
Day 3
We start off the day today with a tour of Historical Village & Vermeer Windmill! We will have lunch on our own and regroup for a fascinating performance at the Klokkenspel! Later this afternoon, we will enjoy a tour of the Scholte House Museum & Maria’s Tea Room. We will finish off our day at the Machine Shed Restaurant for dinner and then head back to the hotel. (B, D)
Day 4
Our last day today, we will leave Iowa behind and make our way home. Make sure to plan your next trip with Sunnyland along the way! (B)
