Day 1, Saturday, October 30, 2021

Our group will depart Springfield on our way to Venice, Italy! An overnight flight is planned.

Day 2, Sunday, October 31, 2021

Venice and Welcome Dinner: Meet your tour director for a welcome drink, and take a one-hour guided walk around the city known as the “Queen of the Adriatic.” Spend a couple of hours exploring on your own before gathering again for dinner with your fellow travelers. (D)

Day 3, Monday, November 1, 2021

The Sights of Venice and Gondola Ride: We will take a guided walking tour of Venice, “La Serenissima,” the most serene of cities, with its glorious architecture, and its charming bridges and canals. Visit the magnificent Doge’s Palace and the acclaimed Piazza and Basilica of San Marco. Journey along the canals for a view of the city from a gondola – truly, an unforgettable experience. Delight in an evening of exploring and dinner on your own. (B)

Day 4, Tuesday, November 2, 2021

Venice, Bologna & Florence: We will take a private water taxi from our hotel to our coach and travel on to Florence. During our journey, we’ll stop for free time and lunch on your own at the lively historic foodie city of Bologna. We will arrive at our hotel outside Florence’s city center. After a short break, we will depart for a short orientation walk in this beautiful city, the capital of Tuscany, and the birthplace of the Renaissance. We will enjoy a typical Tuscan dinner with our group at a local Florence restaurant. (B,D)

Day 5, Wednesday, November 3, 2021

Florence Walking Tour and The Accademia Gallery: We will take a guided walking tour of Florence and marvel at the sights of the city center such as the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria. We then visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s iconic sculpture of David. Savor a local lunch in the heart of Florence, where the sauce is handcrafted with locally-sourced tomatoes. After lunch, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore this magnificent city at your leisure. (B,L)

Day 6, Thursday, November 4, 2021

Orvieto and Rome: This morning, we’re off to the Eternal City with a special and delicious stop in Orvieto for a local wine tasting. They say that all roads lead to Rome, and today yours will certainly do so as we are immersed in Italy’s nature beauty and surrounded by breathtaking vistas. Take an optional tour to the heart of Rome to see the towering Trevi Fountain and the picturesque Spanish Steps, then spend the evening exploring and dining as you please. Our hotel tonight is in Rome’s historical center. (B)

Day 7, Friday, November 5, 2021

Rome and The Vatican: It’s a full day as we visit the historic Colosseum, the iconic structure of imperial Rome constructed between 72 and 80 AD. We will walk among the ghosts of the Caesars in the ruins of the Forum, the ancient heart of the Roman Empire. We will enjoy a short break for lunch before visiting the Vatican with a privately guided tour of the Museums with entrance to the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. We will then have dinner in a charming Roman neighborhood restaurant. (B,D)

Day 8, Saturday, November 6, 2020

After breakfast, we will begin our journey back home. (B)

Please note: Many of our sightseeing stops/sites require extensive standing, sitting, walking – sometimes on unpaved or cobblestone streets, loading and unloading into horse drawn carriages and/or trolleys.    Sunnyland Travel will not refund or cover any cost of expense incurred for any missed activities due to a participant’s inability to fully participate with the group.  If you require assistance in walking, navigating stairs, etc., you are required to travel with a qualified physically-able companion who can accompany and provide such assistance.  Due to many historic locations, the motor coach is not allowed to stay on site or remain running to provide an alternate shelter for those not able to participate in an event.  Please make sure you read the itinerary fully and call one of our travel consultants if you have any questions.
